3 lies keeping you stuck working long hours.
These 3 lies are preventing you from enjoying your life as you grow your business.
Especially if you're ambitious and driven.
1. "I'll grind it out for now until I reach _____, then I'll slow down and get my work-life balance back."
I call this outsourcing your happiness to the future and I've been guilty of it before.
Someday I'll get back to my exercise routine.
Someday I'll make more time for my family and friends.
Someday I'll let myself take a break and have some fun.
But not today!
Today I must suffer and sacrifice for the success of my business.
You tell yourself one day things will be better and you'll slow down then.
But the truth is, that day doesn't come by chance or by accident.
That day comes by design!
If you want to enjoy your life you've got to make it a priority today instead of hoping you will in the future.
2. "I'm so busy I can't slow down or take a break."
I hear this a lot and it's a mentality that keeps people trapped and burning out.
You constantly feel behind and can't slow down to change the way you're working.
No matter how long you work or how many hours you squeeze in you can't do it.
Working nights and weekends isn't even enough.
It's not a failure of effort!
You're simply trying to complete an unreasonable amount of work.
Because your work has outgrown your capacity.
There will always be more work than you can fit in your limited time.
To break free you must lighten your load or nothing will change.
Create breathing room so you have time to think clearly and strategically.
3. "I don't have the time to hire or train support."
This is a classic chicken and egg thing.
If you're too busy to hire support you will always be too busy to hire support.
Although it takes a decent effort to hire someone, it's the key to your freedom.
You need this support because there's a gap in your business.
And it will continue to create overwhelm and pressure until it's filled.
Making a short-term push now will free up 100+ hours of work per month once they're hired.
I can't tell you how many times I've helped an owner hire someone and they say:
"My life is so much better now, I wish I'd done this months ago!"
You could be saying the same thing 1-2 weeks from now if you start today.
I've told myself each of these lies at some point, so I know how hard they are to break.
They say when the pain gets great enough, we're finally willing to change.
But in my mind, the path to a better life is not forcing yourself to suffer until you break...
It's making your business work for you today so you can fully enjoy your life.
